Thank
you for visiting our Web site. We sponsor an education project that encourages our youth to stay in school, and get an education.
According to the National Center for Education Statistics, approximately one-in-eight students in the United States never graduate from high school. It is important to note that the path leading toward school withdrawal begins during the elementary years. The number of students in our nation who do not complete high school is alarming; for in today's society there are few employment opportunities that pay living wages and benefits for those who have not completed high school. On average, youth who drop out of school are more likely to experience negative outcomes such as:
Statistics from a U.S. Department of Labor 2003 report, show that high school dropouts are less likely to be employed than they otherwise would be had they completed high school. Reports also show that nearly 80% of individuals in prison do not have high school diplomas. The National Center for Education Statistics states that the two reasons listed below are primary contributors to students' high dropout rate. We are convinced that by encouraging and motivating young people to establish positive-attainable goals that when attained produce measurable results, the causes that produced non-productive behavior will be mitigated. Two Primary Reasons for High School High-Dropout Rate are:
We must convince the young men and women who place more importance on becoming an athlete, or an entertainer, that obtaining an education is Necessary in order to become a productive adult. Our youth must also be convinced that "Getting An Education" must be their primary objective. Our youth need to understand that one does not have to be an athlete, or an entertainer in order to be successful. We believe our Education Shirt Project will help motivate and encourage our youth to pursue their education with unwavering perseverance, so that they can obtain their high school diploma and increase their job opportunities and social recognition in society.
